Turns out I had a M.2 drive in my laptop and I ordered a 2.5. They don't even sell the cable or bracket. I had to place another order from another vendor to get the job done. Also, they never prompted me that I would need a conversion kit. Luckily the old one I had worked.

Internally there are no visible changes to the MacBook Pro's primary SATA cable. It's still a flex cable but apparently capable of delivering twice the bandwidth of last year's model. Apple doesn't ship the new MacBook Pros with any 6Gbps drives and I would be surprised if it selected anything other than Samsung or Toshiba for SSDs, which means even the SSD options are 3Gbps. Luckily I happen to have a small cache of SSDs, including a bunch of new 6Gbps offerings.

Nothing on the screen moves. I’ve found that if I hit the power button once, or hit the volume or screen brightness, the computer will unfreeze. But it’s a process that takes about 30 seconds, and it’s fairly annoying. Other times, I have no choice but to hold the power button down and restart the machine.
